This is why I take photos at different stages! Somehow that top block got sewn upside down but luckily I found it before I sewed the vertical sashing on. I’ll fix it tomorrow and maybe I’ll even finish assembling this one.
We went for a short hike after I stopped sewing for the day and when we came back, there was a deer standing in the back yard by the driveway … it ran off but didn’t go too far before I snapped a photo … there were no deer on the trails but they seem to like our backyard.
The quilt is looking great and love your yard with the deer

That isn’t just a t-shirt quilt. It’s a Hard Rock quilt. Great job, Mary. Always fun to see how to use more shirts and different size logos.

Really great quilt Mary! I used the same type layout for my granddaughter’s T-shirt quilt, but without the sashing in between the shirts. Her’s has 3 columns with vertical strips in between the columns. I find this is a much easier way to use a lot of different size shirts than trying to make them all into the same size block. The only measurement to decide is the width and of course, getting the columns to the same length! 😂
You’re wise to do that! Several years ago I made a Christmas quilt, which I hand quilted (which means I spent LOTS of time looking at it) & didn’t notice one of the blocks was upside down or sideways (I never really did figure out exactly how the block was “off” but boy howdy… it was!) till I got ready to wrap it up as a gift. Argh! I’m gonna follow your lead from now on!
Hi Mary! Good thing you caught that nice and early in the process. Lots of Hard Rock t-shirts – did he collect the pins from their stores as well? I had a friend who had a jean jacket that was loaded with their pins. It was so heavy I don’t know how anyone could wear it for any length of time. Funny story about upside down blocks. Last week I was working on a quilt and saw a block that was upside down. I fixed it. Oops indeed I put it in the same way added borders and found my mistake as I was pressing the topnforvquilting.
I really like Adam’s t-shirt quilt! Loved looking at all the different Hard Rock Cafe designs! I have to say I am in awe of the beautiful deer pictures you take. You always manage to get picture perfect shots.
That deer is just waiting to get a chance to eat your flowers. It’s a constant threat where we live. I am always chasing them off. But, country living is otherwise wonderful.

Good thing you caught that but you could have said you planned it that way to add a little more interest to the quilt?? LOL. That is always something I worry about and have had similar things happen. Like exact blocks being next to each other even though you looked and looked for any that were together. I even took pictures before sewing them together and still didn’t catch it. Of course I am the only one who notices it but it really bothers me. It was a baby quilt so not a huge deal. But just shows how easy it can be to not see your mistakes.
My daughter just moved to Indiana and she is thrilled that deer come visit their front yard!
