Before and After

There was a futon at the house here when we bought it … it was in sad shape, missing an arm and the cover was in bad condition but I wanted to keep it if possible, as an additional seating area in my nook and extra sleeping space if needed. So I bought a new cover and Chris made new arms for it and I’m much happier with it. Of course the carpet is new in that room too – I LOVE having new carpet in the entire house!

  1. Very nice. Great to have a wood worker in the family.

  2. The futon looks great. We have moved to what is called the High Desert in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We have no carpet as recommended by the seller and now we can see why. SO MUCH is tracked in every day. It’s nice to use a dust mop instead of a vacuum. I can’t imagine what carpet would look like in just a short time. I love living here.

  3. Wow, what a difference! We had a futon years ago in a bonus room. It really came in handy as extra sleeping place for grandkids over the years. Finally gave it to a granddaughter when she got a place of her own. Not sure where it is these days. Our new carpet is about 8 months old now and I am still amazed at the difference in how the house looks. And I still love it too! Your puppy quilt is so cute! I have never made a 5 yard quilt but it has been on my list for a while. A friend made one with frogs and it was darling. If I EVER get done with the stack of projects I have now, I would like to make one. My next quilt is going to be one with flour sack material. It is a kit and should be pretty easy. The one after that is an Edyta Sitar kit and is Christmas trees. That one might take a while but is beautiful!! Wish I could sew as fast as you. Right now I need to go out and do some yard work…UGH!!

  4. I slept on a futon once at a friends house and it was very comfortable. Love that new cover and how lucky you are to have a woodworker in your family. We can’t have carpet or even a rug in our home. We have four rescued dogs and the oldest was in a kennel for over 9 years breeding. They warned us she would most likely never be house trained and they were right. So far today I have mopped up after her 3 times. Sometimes she goes 2 days without an accident but it’s rare. She even peed on my rubber mat in front of the sink so I gave that up too. We absolutely adore her and would never give her up, I just get the mop each time. The beagle has a urethra problem and is now on medication but before that, we mopped up a gallon. So glad we have laminate floors.
