A day off

Keith took a half day but I took the whole day off. It was hot and after our bike ride this afternoon I couldn’t summon the energy to do anything! We biked along the bay to the River Walk area. We found last week that if we went in the afternoon during the week, we could actually have a late lunch at one of our usual spots with NO ONE around. It was great. We wore masks when ordering or interacting with the waiter and he wore a mask too.

I know a lot of people are dining out but we haven’t been … this was a treat to be able to do it in a very controlled and safe way.

  1. How nice that you were able to dine out. You both made good use of some time off. We still haven’t gone out to eat – together. Dave went to a golf course with his league guys on Wednesday that was about 100 miles away. They had supper at an Indian casino nearby. I had pizza with my daughter and kids at a golf course clubhouse a couple weeks ago. But we were the only people in there. The young lady working was not wearing a mask however. This week our town has its “end of summer festival”, complete with carnival rides, concerts, and food vendors. I have no interest in going – especially because our active case numbers have doubled in the past week.

  2. So happy you were able to eat out and have an enjoyable day. We have not eaten out yet but may do that this weekend, outside. My husband golfs 3 days a week and eats outside with his golf buddies and they have not had any problems. And all of them are in their 70’s. I am really getting tired of all this and hate wearing those masks everywhere. And I am getting desperate and plan on golfing tomorrow with my husband and daughter. Should be interesting since I have not picked up my clubs in 10 yrs. Life goes on and I have many blessings to be thankful for. Enjoy your day!!

  3. We did the 2pm lunch thing today and there were only a handful of people there. It was a nice break and I’ll probably skip dinner in favor of some ice cream later, so bonus no cooking on top of lunch out.
