Bad Luck

If bad luck comes in 3’s then I should be due for some good luck. First, I broke my ankle last Sunday, then my brand new stove went bad this past Sunday, and today a piece of one of my crowns broke off.

The leg is giving me a hard time. Lots of discomfort. I go back on Friday for an X-ray and to see the orthopedic doctor.

We had an electrician out today to look at the outlet and circuit breaker for the stove since it tripped and would not come back on. He put in a breaker that could handle a larger load and fixed the outlet which was not attached to the wall but the stove still wouldn’t work and tripped the breaker as soon as he flipped it. He said it’s a problem with the stove and we need to get the appliance people out here. I was able to make an appointment for Friday but then we’re gone for 2 weeks. Who knows when I’ll actually have a working stove. Luckily, I have the Instant Pot, an Air Fryer, and a microwave here so I should be able to manage meals for a while. We also have a small grill.

And finally I was eating a small pretzel stick today and a piece of one of my crowns broke off. We won’t be home until next week so I called my dentist and they said it was OK to wait to get home for the repair. I’ve had a root canal in that tooth and right now I’m not having any pain so I’m hoping it stays that way. Poor Keith … with my broken leg I can’t drive so he’s going to be driving me to lots of appointments the next few weeks.

I hope you’re having a better week than I am!

  2. Oh darn! The ankle is grief enough. I am sure it is painful. I hope all goes well with the orthopedic doctor and X-ray.
Yes…trouble comes in 3’s……but you and Keith will have a busy few weeks, with no fun!

  3. Mary,

I am so sorry that bad luck has found you. But surely good luck is on the way. Just be sure you are be ready for it when it comes because it will swoop down on you and have you wrapped up in good feelings.

    Let’s hope it hurries.

  4. Hope everything gets better soon. New stove failure is something I have never experienced but the other two are survivable. I can say i broke a crown so badly that I needed an implant but relatively easy all in all.

  5. I’m so sorry. I haven’t been reading blogs lately and tuned in today to read about your spate of bad news. Good grief! Sending a virtual hug your way. Have to think there is a rainbow or two at the end of your trail (or is that trial?).

  6. Typical luck for 2020! 😐 I’m curious about your air fryer, brand, size, ease of use and cleanup. Would you buy that particular model again? My stove is four years old and I had to replace a gas burner control so far. Hope your stove has an easy fix or a new appliance is provided.

  7. Just sending you some virtual hugs Mary. Hope the next weeks slide along with a great deal more ease

  8. Sending prayers your way for your ankle & tooth. Things will look up real soon for you. 🌻🙏💙

  9. I’d be mad about that stove!! I once had an appliance break every month for 6 months. Currently we have an electric issue with our walk in closet.. Terry is good with this stuff and his meter shows no circuit breakers are bad so we will not so patiently wait for an electrician to show up. All contractors etc hate to come up this mountain because between the highway and the road up to our mountain is an hour trip one way. What the heck…they CHARGE for it!! We usually pay in cash so they probably pocket it anyway. Did I say that?!?
    be well and save.

  10. You certainly deserve a break in the luck dept. The stove would be a deal breaker. New replacement stove. this one’s a lemon. Get well soon on that ankle.

  11. THings have to get a lot better after all that! Maybe you’ll have to stay off of the foot entirely. Hope not! It’s hard wanting to get things done and can’t! Better days have to come now !! Take care!
