Another finish

This is my favorite guy hat to knit and it’s free on Ravelry.

  • Pattern – Ross
  • Needle size – 8
  • Yarn – Caron one pound. I’m not sure what the colorway is called but it’s a dark gray or black heather

The turkey masks fit … gobble gobble. I’m helping with Rae’s school again. Just 3 days this week and 3 days next week with Rae and then we will not be seeing the kids until after the holidays or until things improve (they’ve been cautious the last two weeks and not around people without masks and distancing). They are trying on the masks but we didn’t wear masks while they were here. We’ve seen the kids all along and have tried to be careful but it’s just too much to try and continue to track and isolate from them when they’ve been with other family and with the COVID numbers still climbing.

  1. I hate it that we have to isolate ourselves from loved ones to stay safe. Enjoy the time you have with them and do enjoy i video calls.

  2. Cute masks. I am sorry that you need to isolate from your family.
We consider ourselves extremely lucky to live here in NZ.

  3. Cute masks–we haven’t seen any grandchildren and only my daughter once (masked and distanced for a short time) since March…and with cases on the rise, we are self-isolating still…scarey out there among the so-called “I have my rights” people who don’t follow any rules for safety during these dangerous days…S I G H

  4. Mo has a perpetual happy face, even behind a mask.

I’m using that Caron On Pound Dark Grey Mix color right now, myself. I like it. It’s the first time I’ve used it. I wanted something close to the feel and drape of the Caron Big Cakes. It’s way better than the Lion Brand Pound of Love. Whoa! LB is thin, pills and fuzzes like crazy. I’m making this hooded pocket scarf with the Caron. https://youtu.be/Xrf8OFTgE4U I like the look of the stitch, but it’s too much to keep track of while watching TV at the same time. I’d mess it up. Instead, I went with a simple HDC. Not happy with it. The HDC is a stiffer than I’d like, even after using a larger hook. I might rip it out and start over with the pattern stitch, after all.

  5. Hi Mary! Look how cute Rae and Mo look in their turkey masks!! They bring such joy to you and Keith. I’m so glad you are able to see them and help Rae with her school work. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. The girls look so cute in their turkey masks. We have canceled our family Thanksgiving and it makes me so sad. At our age I feel those holiday gatherings are important, but this year we need to keep everyone safe. I sure hope things improve in 2021. Being a nurse, what are your thoughts on a vaccine? Will you get one right away or wait a while? My husband is a pharmacist and he says he will wait a while. I haven’t decided yet what to do although I am a little apprehensive to get one. Now in our 70’s we need to be careful.

  7. We’re sacrificing this year’s holiday gatherings with family, in order to be here for years to come. We can do this! It’s not like we can’t hear their voices or see them via devices & social media. I ask for videos of the grands so I can hear their sweet voices any old time. Too many nights, I find myself watching these little gems over & over, grinning all the while. It’s a relatively easy sacrifice for a relatively short time. I’m determined not to be depressed by this temporary hiccup in our lives. It helps to know that we’re not alone, and that most of us are pulling together to get past this. Hang in there, people!

  8. It’s impossible to keep track of who the children see and what they are doing in Japan. They still have regular in-classroom school! How long is that going to last?

No Thanksgiving celebrations planned here either…
