Quilted

#10 for December is quilted. I quilted my 5 yard Map quilt freehand – a less swirly version of Dwirling than I usually do. I wanted to give the quilt a topographical feel and Dwirling is perfect for that. It’s another one of the 5 yard quilts – I got my pattern free with a fabric pack but I found a version of it online on Pinterest if you’re interested in the pattern.

I had to take a break and turn the machine off for a bit – we had a thunderstorm with a tornado warning – usually not a problem I have to deal with in December!

I used the time to trim another quilt and get a binding cut. I was kind of shocked to see I hadn’t cut a binding for the brown Sharon inspired HeartStrings quilt. That’s very unusual for me but luckily it was one I pieced here and I was able to find fabric used in the quilt and cut it. Now I’m going to get it machine stitched on and ready for hand stitching tonight.

  1. We are expecting a Nor’easter snow storm starting tonight with 12 inches or so. South towards NYC should get up to 18 inches. Good for skiers. Very cold last night-in the teens now and going down. Cold and crisp. I hope snow is still here for a white Christmas. I love seeing lights reflecting off the snow.
    Love seeing your quilts.

  2. I sure love your quilts, they are gorgeous! I like to hand stitch my binding down too but can’t do many in a row due to arthritis. I still haven’t perfected machine stitched binding but I’m working on it. I usually stitch while watching TV in the evening, it’s very relaxing.

  3. Another one and it is fantastic. Even though you never ask a guest if they would like another of something because it highlights that you are keeping count, here I am intentionally pointing out another fantastic finish! I haven’t been keeping count but am impressed by the enormity of your undertakings! Thanks for sharing all your beautiful quilts.
