Log Cabin

I love log cabin blocks and it feels good to be making some sense of these string/leftover strip bins. I’m spending some time sorting and cutting the chunks from trimming excess backing fabric and spending some time making log cabin blocks. My light at night isn’t the best for taking photos, this isn’t as dark/yellowed as it looks.

Tomorrow, I need to load and get a top quilted.

  1. Good morning Mary. Log cabin blocks are some of my favourites. Of course it seems that I like all kinds of blocks. We were on the receiving end of lots of snow here from Jan 2nd thru the third. It’s definitely a winter wonderland, with over a foot of snow. Great time to sew. Hope your day is warm and sunny

  2. Love your logs. I can see that they are not uniform, I’m not sure how to make blocks like that .

  3. I love log cabin quilts too. In the past I’ve made a lot of them, but for some reason I haven’t made any in recent years. That may have to change because log cabins are wonderful.

  4. Log cabin is my favorite pattern! I love using not so loved fabrics because their patterns are not too noticeable. Have you seen Edyta Sitar’s “Broken Star Log Cabin”? It uses all light, all dark as well as regular light and dark blocks. It is a lovely star design -I donated two of them to QOV.
I enjoy and appreciate your blog.
Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy 2021!

  5. It’s looking good. I always enjoyed making the Log Cabin Quilt .Your a lot neater than I am. I have them all in one good size tote .Do you have fabric that is seems too pretty to use? I have some, but I’m not sure if I will ever use it. Just wondering ! Take care and stay safe!!
