Working

I FINALLY finished the masks this morning. These are the last of the ones for Chris and the girls and while I don’t mind making a few masks now and then, making a bunch at a time gets to be a chore so I’m glad to be done for now.

This afternoon I was able to get back to the HSTs. I’d planned to use just 6 inch triangles in this next quilt but it wasn’t looking like I wanted so I fell back on a favorite of mine – Easy Flock of Geese – and I’m very happy with how it’s turning out. I’m also happy that I made pretty good progress on it today. I’ve got a lot going on the next few days and I would like to at least get all the blocks made and up on the design wall before we leave. I don’t think I’ll have time to get it assembled.

And speaking of working, Keith got a new desk – at his office in Minneapolis he has an adjustable desk and since he’s not traveling at all right now with COVID he spends all his time in his home office sitting – not good! It’s kind of a plain Jane desk but it works better for him so that’s what counts. I think I’m going to try and use the old desk downstairs in the sewing room. I’m not sure if Keith and I can move it ourselves but we’ll see. By the way, it does lower so he can alternate between standing and sitting!

  1. My husband has a similar work space set up in our home office too. Before his back surgery he spent quite a bit of time standing at it. But now he doesn’t as often. But it’s nice to be able to raise and lower that desk as needed.

  2. I finished my easy flock of geese but I won’t be showing you! It did go to a young boy with cancer and lots of people liked it. I didn’t. Yours is amazing. Love Keith’s desk. My cardiologist asked if my sewing table could become a standing desk. I laughed but he might have been serious. Keep the circulation going.

    • Pennyguglie – I bought an adjustable desk – sit and stand – and raise it to use as a cutting table. I also place my machine table at a right angle to it and lower it so that if I wish can use it to hold the bulk of a large quilt to the left of my machine while I sew on the binding. I could also use it as a standing sewing machine table if necessary. Best $200 AUD I ever spent at Office Works

  3. My kids also bought ergonomic chairs, now that they are working from home. Keith might want to do that for the times he is sitting and working.

  4. Hi Mary! I was just talking about these adjustable desks!! I think we need to have a few here at my school district. I sit SO much now – it’s almost like being chained to my desk. I don’t dare go out into the hallway unless I have specific business. A plain Jane version is just the ticket! Also, I feel the same way about making masks. I don’t mind a few but not too many or it’s a chore. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Mary can I ask what pattern you use for your masks? I am looking for one like yours. Thanks Terry

  7. How neat! I was just “virtually visiting” my son and his wife and they showed me their new adjustable desks that raise and lower. I’d never seen such a thing before and there you have one too! Online office work has changed even furniture!
