Quilted

I quilted my 2nd Plus 3 top today and it was my least favorite of the two. I had a set of fat quarters and started making blocks. At a certain point, I decided that I didn’t like the print blocks mixed with the tone on tone blocks and separated them out into two quilts with my favorite being this one with the tone on tone blocks that I finished last year.

Of course every quilt can’t be my favorite and this one will make a nice little donation quilt too and I do like it better after quilting. Pantograph is Dear Hearts. I’ve already gotten it trimmed and the binding is on ready for me to hand stitch tonight while I listen to the Lightning game. It is #9 of 10 on the list to be quilted this month which leaves me a week to get my Aunt’s queen size top done. I’ll get it loaded tomorrow.

Brief instructions for the Plus 3 quilt can be found on my website at this link.

  1. It is always a surprise to me when I see the quilting done on something I thought I didn’t like. The quilting makes it come alive doesn’t it? It will be loved just as much as the other one I’m sure.

  2. I can see why you don’t like the second one as much, but it is happy and cheerful. I’m sure someone will love it!

  3. So many variations on plus quilts. I have one that I made years ago that drove me crazy.. Your pattern is much easier. Mine is one of two quilts I kept for myself and I picked it without thought of what nesting crosses meant for piecing. I had only been quilting about 2 years. I love the colors and even though the prints don’t thrill me they are cute and will be special to someone.

  4. I think your quilts turned out great. I especially like your long arm quilting, so pretty. I rarely use gray, it’s just not a color to me. I did make a nephew a silver and black quilt that turned out great. I think I’d like to make another of these quilts but use your pattern. They really are pretty.

  5. I really like the grey with the bright colors — I think they both work really well because the bright isn’t screaming. It’s just happily bright.
