Off my needles

Hat #2 is done. I’m not all that happy with this one … I think it’s probably the yarn and I might try it again in a different yarn. The pattern was easy to read and knit but I think my “worsted” weight yarn was too lightweight so if I try it again I’ll try it in a heavier yarn. I also didn’t like the feel of this yarn. It wasn’t as soft as many of the other yarns I use. The diameter of this one was not “adult size” (most likely due to the lighter weight of my worsted yarn) so I only knit to about 5 inches before starting the crown decreases and it will fit a child.

I’ve linked to the actual hat pattern below but check out the main pattern page on the Knots of Love site for other free patterns. Several years ago I made the Occasional Purl hat for my sister-in-law.

  1. Red hat , cold weather a match made in heaven. It will work for someone and they will think it is the most special hat ever.

One Christmas I changed my mind from a doll to a bicycle a week before Christmas so my dad found a used bicycle and reworked it within a tight budget. No training wheels or streamers. The bell was a little rusted. It was repinted my favorite color. I loved it so much and by the end of Christmas day all my friends wanted to ride my bike. It was special to me somI see a great future for a red hat.

  2. Thanks for the link. I just downloaded the Kittys Kap pdf – I have a lot of variegated wool to use up 🙂

  3. Another great hat finish, Mary! Thanks for the pattern link, too. I’m sure you’ve probably mentioned that website before, but this time I clicked on it. Who doesn’t love a FREE pattern?!
