I don’t hate it

Just kidding … surprisingly after all the agonizing, I’m quite happy with it. Solid Plus is a UFO from 2017. It was a kit from Craftsy and I liked the top when I finished piecing it but hadn’t been able to decide how to quilt it. I knew I wanted to quilt something overall – freehand or a panto but I just couldn’t decide what would work and I was also struggling with what color thread to use. I like my thread to blend in and with the amount of contrast and the solid fabrics, there was no way that was going to happen if I used one thread color and did overall quilting….so it sat for 4 plus years.

I’d decided it was going to get quilted during this quilting marathon and had planned to use the natural colored thread but at the last minute decided the pink thread would work better … and it did.

I ended up choosing the pantograph Dollop. Have you ever been so tired of worrying about how you were going to finish a quilt that in the end you no longer cared how it turned out? That’s pretty much where I was with this one. I just wanted it done and so I’m surprised at how much I like it. It still needs binding of course but that will get done in the next week or so.

  1. I have a quilt top that has sat for over 15 years but this year it gets quilted. Probably not by me though, it’s a sampler and has a house block. Your plus quilt looks great.

  2. I think it turned out very pretty. The pink thread was a terrific choice. Quilting has often changed my mind about quilts I didn’t love – once quilted they look so much better sometimes.

  3. The quilting looks wonderful. Thank you for always telling us what pantograph you are using. I have purchased several different pantographs after you have used them and I decide I can’t live without them, LOL!

  4. I’ve definitely put off quilting something because I didn’t want to “ruin” it or didn’t think I had the right e2e. Enough of that – I quilted one older quilt recently and it’s fine. And just got backing for another quilt I’ve been holding on to for too long. Don’t know how I’ll quilt it but I’m pretty sure it’ll be done before the end of the month!

  5. I like it a lot. The dollop panto creates a lot of interest and makes me smile because of the Daisy sour cream commercials that declare Do a dollop, do do a dollop of Daisy.

  6. Your quilt looks great! Congrats on a near-finish. What kind of thread do you use on your Innova? We just got mine set back up after the move and for the first time I turned off the stitch regulator. wow. Manual mode is working well. I get smoother curves and don’t feel like I’m fighting the machine. I wonder if SR would have been smoother with lightening stitch however.
