Quilted

While I had the pink thread on the machine I went ahead and loaded and quilted the Owl Happy Block top. Pantograph is Dear Heart.

I also got out for a hike – we’ve had a lot of rain but while the trail was muddy in places at least it wasn’t under water like the last time! I love the sound of the creek as I walk alongside it.

They’ve made a start on the 2nd retaining wall today. We replaced the rotting timber retaining wall by the driveway last year and had the stone walkway done but I wanted to wait a bit before getting the other retaining wall redone. It’s not cheap but it should last and we shouldn’t have to ever replace it unlike timber that would just rot again.

This is the view out Keith’s office window right now. He’s traveling next week so hopefully they’ll be finished before he’s back.

The house is built into a hill so from the front it looks like one story but from the side and back you can see it’s two stories. That’s Keith’s office window on the right side of the house with the stone.

My longarm room is right under Keith’s office and the retaining wall is outside my window to the left.

  1. The owls are adorable. I just cut and kitted up this same pattern using a bright cat print, but have made myself a promise not to start sewing on it until I get another in-progress quilt top done.

You live in such a beautiful location, but I see the need for the retaining walls with the hills and trees.

  2. Hi Mary! That’s exactly how I determine what to work on next – what color thread is in the machine? Your hiking arena looks fabulous. Such a good idea to make time for that daily walk! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Hi, Mary! I look forward to seeing your new blogs each day, especially your quilt ones. I love the colors in your Happy Owl quilt. It’s gorgeous. The area where you live tugs my heart. I love the mountains!
