It was one of those days

I pulled a “kit” from those assembled in January to start a new project and realized that there just wasn’t enough contrast with one of my fabrics. Spent over an hour trying to find a substitute and couldn’t. Scrapped that and pulled another “kit”. Went to EQ7 to work out some measurements and had computer/printer issues … another hour lost.

This is one of my pre-2006 quilts that I found a photo of recently and I’d decided to remake it during our 3 yard challenge month – as always I’ll use more than 3 yards but I’ll use 3 fabrics and I’ll add one more row of blocks.

Everything is cut and the HSTs are all pieced but this is all the progress I made today. I did walk 30 minutes on the treadmill and did several loads of laundry but nothing else was accomplished.

  1. For me too. Went to cut my border and the lady who sold it kind of skimped on the yard of fabric. So back to measurements and decided on a smaller border. Had to cut 3/4” off my strips. Ugh!

  2. Love the quilt. One good thing for me is that I finished a quilt for my nephew. Hope he likes it! Funny how that is more important to me than for many other recipients. I luckily used scraps because I made so many measurement errors and turned one block so I had to totally remake it. I never use a pattern without changing it somehow but I love yours.

  3. We all have those type of days. I love where you are going with quilt. I am finishing quilting, some FMQ and some stitch in the ditch, on a twin size quilt for Nora’s second birthday we are celebrating on Sunday. Nora is grand daughter #4.

  4. That fish fabric is so darn cute – and the colors you chose to go with it – perfect. That will be a quilt that kids might fight over. I have had trouble sometimes too with switching fabric due to lack of contrast. And then sometimes I’ve gotten things sewn, and then decided the contrast wasn’t good.

  5. The colors are very cheery on your QIP. Another idea for me with some of my bright fabrics. Thanks, Mary.
