I found out yesterday that my HeartStrings friend Rebecca had passed away and spent some time looking through photo albums and remembering our time together. She was my binding buddy at the Maine sew-ins and I will miss her. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to help lead the HeartStrings group for the last 15 years and for the opportunity to have met so many caring quilters like Rebecca through my work with them.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. It is truly difficult to lose a friend. I lost my walking buddy last year, and it left quite a hole in my heart. Glad you have those photos to help you save those memories of good times together.

  2. My condolences on the passing of your dear quilting friend. Keep the memories of all the great quilting projects, activities and laughter in your heart. You are both blessed to have been friends. Now she will be watching over you and all her quilting friends

  3. So sorry Mary for the loss of your friend, may the memories you have help you through this difficult time. Keeping you and Rebecca’s family in my prayers.

  4. Rebecca looks like quite a fun lady – I bet you had many happy adventures with her when you got together. So nice to see all those photo’s of her sewing – doing something she loved! Happy memories for you 🙂

  5. I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. Our quilt-y friends may become our friends because of our mutual interest in quilting, but they stay our friends because of their other wonderful qualities.

  6. I am so sorry for your loss. It’s always difficult to lose a friend, even moreso when they are a quilting buddy.

  7. Her kind and happy face shows the lovely person she was. What a fortunate thing it was that you two became friends. I’m so sorry for your loss, Mary.

  8. How wonderful that you have those great memories and wonderful pictures to celebrate your friend’s life. With those at hand, she will live on forever.

  9. I’m so sorry you lost a good friend, it is never easy. She looks like a very nice friend to have. I’m sure you will cherish the memories and the good times you shared quilting together.

  10. Thank you for posting the pictures of Rebecca, both here and on the Heartstrings group. I especially love the first one with her beautiful smile. I will miss Rebecca’s dry sense of humor and Maine-isms. I always enjoyed seeing the other craft projects she was working on too. She certainly will be missed at the sew-in in September and ever after.

  11. These people are so special. It is so special to have the memories and pictures to look back on.
