This is a variation of the Cobblestones hat found free on Ravelry. I made an error knitting it a few years ago and like the variation as much as the original and now I knit both versions.
In my variation, the purl stitches lined up rather than offset so substitute K2P2 for the rows in the pattern that called for P2K2
