Two of my favorite things in quilts! You know that along with my HeartStrings group that I make a lot of quilts with leftover strips and strings so when I was offered the opportunity to review the book Scrappy Wonky Quilt Block Extravaganza published by C&T Publishing I was eager to participate.
The book is very through, not only does it review basics about quilting in general, it takes you through the process of creating a number of different wonky blocks, AND has patterns for projects ranging from coasters, to pillows, to quilts, and more!
Some of those pieces are a bit on the small size for me but who doesn’t love a wonky log cabin block?? Or how about a wonky 9 patch?
Years ago, I had a template for a simple windmill block that got lost in one of my moves … how simple would it be to just make wonky version without a template – pretty easy!
I can see myself trying out the wonky half log cabin and courthouse step blocks too. You can’t have too many wonky and scrappy blocks in your repertoire!
Want to see what the authors Shannon and Jason are up to? Check out them out on Instagram at this link.
If you’d like to try some of these blocks/projects yourself, leave a comment on this post to be entered into a drawing for a digital copy of the book – I’ll randomly draw a winner on Monday afternoon.
