Don’t tell Mom!

Back in 2021 I decided to make a variation of my Strips and Strings log cabin quilt using hearts as the block center. I used neutrals for the background, red for the hearts, and hand stitched my hearts with perle cotton.

After I made the first one, I decided I wanted to make one with various colored hearts and backgrounds … and I asked Mom to stitch the hearts for me. She’s always done lovely machine appliqué and she’s always helped me out on projects when I’ve asked in exchange for all the quilting I did for her.

I loved this one but Mom thought it was too busy.

So when I asked her to do another set for me she thought neutral backgrounds with colored hearts would look better …. And this set has sat around waiting for a few years for me to get around to making another one of these.

Stephanie pulled scraps out of the hat for our May Challenge so I’ve decided I’ll start piecing a set of these Log Cabin Hearts. Mom’s probably wondered what became of this set (and one more that she made too) but I always knew I’d eventually get around to them.

I have some brief notes on the website at this link describing how I piece these quilts.
