Site icon Making Scrap Quilts from Stash

Assembled

My appointment this afternoon was canceled so I had time to come downstairs … before playing… I got a binding made and sewn on and I’ll hand stitch that down tonight.

Then I thought let’s make a quick little doll/bear quilt. I had a baggie with leftover pieces of fat quarters from this quilt.

In my HeartStrings group, Ann had been talking about working on rectangle quilts … and a while back Bev had talked about Potato Chip blocks. So without thinking, I pulled out a GO die and started cutting rectangles.

I was thinking I’d make a big 24 inch block from rectangles. And then I realized I probably didn’t have enough variety in my fabrics and would be repeating them too much. So I went to my book shelf …

And pulled out one of my books.

After looking through the book, I changed my plan (see the cover quilt?!?) and when I started sewing my rectangles together thought … basically you’re just making a Happy Block … and it would have been easier to cut those side pieces the length of the block instead of sewing two rectangles of the same fabric together! I did at least think to cut a 4.5 inch center for the blocks instead of using two rectangles!

At any rate … it’s a cute little quilt top.

I still want to make a scrappy rectangle little quilt but next time I’ll plan better before I start cutting!
