It’s officially done although we haven’t moved back up and used it yet. I did snap a few photos. We’re not fancy people and you might remember the photo I shared of the tile … it’s neutral.
The master bathroom is basically 4 sections … you walk into the sink area from the bedroom. We did not replace the vanity – it has a rustic feel that I like and it’s functional for me.

The new sinks are under-mounted which I like a lot better than the ones that were part of the old countertop.

From this area, the closet is to the left and the toilet is to the right tucked away.

Just past the toilet area, is probably the biggest change, there was a very narrow entry to the shower and the shower had a lot of wasted space. We widened the doorway and now you step to the left into the shower.

There’s a bench that runs the length of the shower. The shower head is adjustable and yes, that’s a grab bar. We debated whether to add them or not but with my balance issues it just makes sense.

The other upstairs bathroom is a more open space … there’s just a single sink but I like the extra counter space when we have guests and they can spread all their stuff out. We kept the vanity in here too but will change out those drawer and cabinet pulls and might eventually have it stained a darker color. We’ll see what we think once we’ve been using it for a while.

There was a shower tub combination in this bathroom but we took it out and enlarged the shower area. We’re still debating whether we’ll put shower doors in or just use a curtain. We’re going to try it with a curtain first and then decide.

This one has a corner bench and we went ahead and put a vertical grab bar in it too. That grout on the floor isn’t that dark … they’d just cleaned the shower and it wasn’t dry when I snapped the photo.

Like I said, not fancy but it’s simple style goes with the house and I know we’re going to love the updated spaces. And one of my favorite features … we had them put a small wall heater in my bathroom. I hate having to shower and get ready in a cold bathroom!

What beautiful bathrooms! I love that you kept each of the vanities as it adds to each room. It was genius adding the heater to the master bath, too – its one of the things I dislike most about winter — getting out of a hot shower into an ice cold bathroom is not fun! Thanks for sharing — you must smile every time you go into those rooms now! Deb E
Your remodel is LOVELY!! Love the neutral colors👍👍. I’m STILL trying to get someone to give me an estimate for updating my small bathroom/laundry area on the main floor. Like over TWO YEARS😱😱!! From multiple contractors. It’s just a small job, and no one wants to be bothered with small things, I guess.
One thing my husband did right when we added on a master bedroom/bathroom upstairs was to put in a heated floor in the bathroom🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰!! It is so very nice to be able to go in there when it is bitter cold, and have the tile floor warm🙌🙌!! It also makes it HOT in the summer so I have to turn down the thermostat when it’s hot and humid here in Nebraska. Not a complaint, just something to think about when it starts getting hot outside.
Great remodel, if you put in shower doors, just a tip, use some kind of frosted glass. Clear glass is a nightmare to keep clean, hard /soft water. The last 5 houses we’ve had custom built, we learned from the first in the 80’s to use the frosted glass. Less work cleaning and not having to squeegee every time one bathes. Even put the frosted shower glass in all guest bathrooms. Saved hours of cleaning.
It’s lovely Mary, all of it. The lines are clen without being cold, and as someone who has mobility issues, the ease of movement is noticed very quickly. i’m happy for you and Keith. And now Christmas can come marching in.
Love all you’ve done to your bathing rooms. A good idea to have the seat and a grab bar on the wall – you never know when you might need them! Thanks for taking the photos to share with us and of course a record for yourself to keep 🙂
Really nice neutral spaces and love the layout. Good design job!
Your aesthetic is much closer to mine than I thought it would be. First and foremost it must function well and then I make it beautiful. You were successful in both.
Very pretty. Remodels don’t have to be examples of how much money you can spend. We remodeled our master bath this year and we kept the existing vanities. We added a bath heater too. Your contractors did a quick job. Ours too much longer. 😄
Your bathrooms are lovely. I particularly like that you kept the wood vanities. A friend asked her brothers to critique her apartment and they told her to add wood, it warms up an area. I always add pictures, a clock and flowers/plant too. I wish we had grab bars, they are so important as you get older. I’m sure you are very happy the work is finished.
The bathrooms look great! And I’m sure you love the update. I still love my updated bathrooms after 15 years, although the master bathroom may need another update soon due to wear and tear. Enjoy and have a great trip.
The bathrooms look nice, modern enough and more functional to suit your needs. I like the extra space you had built that provides space to step out of the shower to the towels.
Maybe not fancy but really beautiful and functional. We need to update our upstairs bathrooms too, and have been considering replacing the tub in our master bath with a walk in shower. And I already have a grab bar in ours, and I’ve been using it as I healed from the 2 hip replacements. As we get older I’m guessing we’ll both find that grab bar handy.
Very nice job on both bathrooms! I do love the extra heat in a bathroom and have to admit, the rails our apartment put in are a dream. I will do it one day on the island when we get a handy man. I don’t need them now, broken ankle well healed, but we all need a little help on the stability..and they are an extra place to dry towels/mats!
Both bathrooms look really nice. I wish that we would have had a heater built into the wall in our downstairs bathroom when we redid it 3 years ago but we get by with a small heater we plug in. Love the neutrals. Enjoy!
Yea for the grab bar, Mary. It’s a life saver. Your bathrooms are lovely. All the hints leading up to the reveal had me waiting with bated breath. Good job!!
Love your remodel of the bathrooms. Really lovely! Like all the neutral colors. You must have a very good contractor who does good work, and quickly. Thats a rarity nowadays. Enjoy the heater too! That’s always a plus.
Wish an option similar to that was available for our tin house. It came with a corner shower/tub with a 16inch step to get in. Not the best thing for this aging couple! Enjoy your new revamped bathrooms!
Well done! It’s so well thought out!
Nicely done, Mary! Keeping things neutral makes sense to me.
Very nice, what a treat to have it organized and have space.
