Finished

I had a wonderful afternoon with Mom today, brunch out and then some time visiting and stitching down bindings together.

We each finished one this afternoon. I stopped in at Dollar Tree for a card and just happened to find an elephant to go with Mom’s little quilt.

And I had the pink monkey to go with the one that I finished.

Both are ready to be wrapped up with some ribbon! 🎀

Our time here is flying by and I have lots to accomplish. Tomorrow we’re going out to celebrate Keith’s birthday so I’ll have the afternoon to cut and kit up the projects I brought for Mom. When I got home this afternoon I did get one of my little quilts pin basted and did some simple stitch in the ditch so that one is ready for binding…. Maybe tonight!

I have about 5 to 6 quilts ready to quilt and that many to put together. Inhave some I have not cut out yet, and I turn 80 in May. Last year I got. TChristmas fabric and may husband n d said “so I can take all of that to storage…right ?” I said no, I have decided that starting Christmas in July is not soon enough for me. I am going to work on Christmas all year y between quilting the ones that are all h maybeyear long tardy to be quilted and it will keep me busy all year long. It is my stash like your what is to woodturning. He is a real artist when it comes to his foot turning he puts out supposed to beautiful balls you’ve ever seen and uses exotic Woods on pansy turns out he just is really good at what he does. I don’t ask him about his things and I think he won’t ask me about mine anymore. LOL I turned 80 this year and I’m decided that there are a number of people in the family that do quilting so I’m going to leave some of my work and stash to them. My husband says well how do you know that they want it I said well I’m going to will it to him if they don’t want it they can sell it or give it away. He said no there’s so much money tied up in that fabric I don’t think that’s what we should do with it I said well we’ll see how much I have left. I have so much I doubt seriously that all that will be gone. Anyway it is wonderful to see you and your mother working together on quilts but I’m sure that you give us gifts and also to people that maybe they already need. I also spent my time needing little baby caps for hospitals I have right now about 100 of them to turn over to them. I have the size will fit Barbie doll on up to a larger size the thing is those little tiny preemies might need those you know caps but no one really makes them for him. So I did I have a great deal of them that can go to the NICU and help a little baby out baby. I may make quilt also for someone as well as I have enough baby yarn to make a couple of Afghans I could donate. I know when my son’s first little boy was born that people in the hospital blessed them with a quilt someone made and they were just thrilled with it. I was at quilting at that time but I started very quickly after that. I made him a quilt also it was a frog quilt with frog pattern along on the sides and other places it really is cute. I also made a couple of quilts that I called Bug quilts. I made bumblebees caterpillars beetle bugs dragonflies and the ones that fly have a 3D wings and I filled them full of a little bit of plastic from a water bottles they stand up nicely and they also make noise with the baby toys with me. I may need those for my cousin’s granddaughters and they’re pretty much alike but there are some differences that I did in order their names on them. I started to do that with my embroidery work I in order pill cases and other work for the kids for Christmas they love them and I always make a heart and sign it Nana and then I put their name on it also with a little heart next to their name. Well keep up the good work and you are blessed to have your mama with you to help I wish my mom was still here to help me also. She gave me a number of quilts that she made and I’m thrilled with him I have one my great grandmother made it’s a almost 200 years old. I also have one and I don’t know if you remember Slim Pickens he used to be a rodeo clown and he also was a movie star well he was a friend of our family and his mother made a quilt top but she never made it into a quilt and she gave it to my grandmother when they were moving away from where they were near my grandma and they had to move. She gave her that top my grandmother gave it to my mother and my mother had a friend of hers quilt it with her a long arm and I’m telling you it’s beautiful it’s in yellows and all of the 1930 colors it’s beautiful. I don’t usually those but I am one who does use her quilts and I found that I wasn’t doing enough quilting in them to keep them from marching up or from making the fabric wear out too soon so now I’m putting more quilting into my work so it will not do that. I didn’t have anybody teach me my first quilt was a blue jean quilt and I cut up old blue jeans with my husband’s of my son-in-law his son and others to make up a quilt for him. He loves that quilt he’s in his thirties and he still carries that thing around from place to place where he lives. The younger one thought it was his quilt and it was really just courage when he found out it wasn’t so I’m in the process of making one for him also another blue jean quilt but a different. Pattern
