Another top finished

Mom finished another top … I keep losing count of how many tops she’s finished since getting here but I counted them up again and this Owl top makes 5. It’s based on a Fabric Cafe pattern called Pretty Please.

I have this same owl fabric in purple so you’ll see another one of these 3 yard quilts using it eventually.

While Mom was finishing up this one, I finished cutting another one for her and started quilting the doll top. I decided to use some leftover Minky fabric on the back which was not the best decision. I had to shove and pull to get it to feed through. I’m going to end up doing minimal quilting on it which is OK, it’s a doll quilt and it will be fine. It makes me appreciate how easy it is to use Minky for backings on the longarm.

I’ve been doing a lot of cooking while Mom’s been here trying to fix her some of her favorites. Tonight we decided to make a turkey dinner. We fixed a turkey breast, broccoli casserole, dressing, and cranberry sauce and it was yummy! Tomorrow we’ll have leftovers.

  1. Hi Mary! It sounds like you both are having fun. That dinner sounds exceptionally delicious and I know today’s will almost be better! I sure am enjoying the time you two spend together – sewing, quilting and chatting. ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. I really like this quilt, the pink just sets it perfectly. Your turkey dinner sounds so delicious. It’s odd because I’ve been thinking of Thanksgiving dinner lately. We will be on our way to Texas for the winter and Thanksgiving will probably be spent in an Arkansas state park that we like. I think I’m ready for turkey now though after your description. Keep on sewing Ladies.

  3. I love the quilt, you and your Mom do amazing work. I use minky on the back of my lap quilts I make and use a Babylok machine to stitch in the ditch. Wish I lived closer I love turkey and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, all about being grateful for what we have and great food.

  4. Such a cute quilt!! I wish your Mom could come visit me. I have a few things she could finish up…lol. Since my son has been in ICU the past 2 months I am having a hard time being creative. Your dinner sounds soooo yummy!! I may need to make that. Comfort food in the Fall is always the best!!!

  5. Your supper sounds yummy! I have a turkey breast in the freezer and keep thinking about getting it out. Maybe over the weekend. Pink and grey is such a sweet color combo, and that pattern lets the owls be the star.
