You’ll be happy to know that I’m feeling well enough to entertain myself this morning in the hospital by looking at vintage quilts and planning a project for this month’s precut – Fat Quarters.
Here’s a vintage quilt I saw this morning on eBay. The Monkey Wrench block is a variation of a Churn Dash, the difference being a narrower middle row/ column.

Here’s the brown and pink version I’d like to make. As usual I design in two colors but will use different browns, pinks, and neutrals.
My quilt will have 10 inch finished blocks and finish at 50 x 70 which is a nice size for donation.

Ah, I missed that you were in the hospital – thank goodness they were able to do something about pain management, it sounds like! I keep toying with Monkey Wrench ideas – maybe your eventual project will move mine along too!
Warm regards,
ceci
This will make a lovely quilt in pinks and browns. Hopefully you’ll get home soon, and be feeling well enough to play with some fabrics or yarn.
So happy they found the problem AND it has a remedy. Sending continuing prayers.
A fun project to look forward to sewing. I hope your pain can be managed more successfully.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better under the pain management., Mary. Sciatica pain is horrible (ask me how I know!!). Hope you continue to recover and can return to your regular routine soon hugs and prayers, Julierose
Glad to know you are feeling a little better. Sciatica is horrible! You have my sympathies.x
I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better, and hope that continues. I love the brown and pink quilt. I might have to make one of those myself.
Pink and brown looking great together. Can’t wait to see how your version turns out.
That will be pretty, can’t wait to see it finished! So happy you are feeling better!
I was away for a few days and didn’t realize it had gotten bad enough to put you in the hospital! Glad you’re feeling well enough to play with new designs and hope you’ll be back home and sewing soon!
Continued prayers for healing, Mary! Just shows that a quilter’s brain never stops!
Kathy
Good Morning! So happy to hear your feeling better! 🥰
Continuous prayers – glad to hear you are on the mend.
LOVE the pink and brown color combo, Mary! It reminds me of an abandoned “kit” project that I have sitting in a basket somewhere in the studio. I’m not sure why its number never seem to move to the top of the list.
I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better and have a path toward a solution. I hope it means that you might be able to go to Maine in October. But if not, at least you will be on the mend! Now, get out of that hospital!
So happy to hear you are feeling a bit better, Mary. And I LOVE Churn Dash/Monkey Wrench quilts. Yours in pink and brown will be glorious. My favorite way to set them is on-point, because I love the way it changes how the blocks look. Keep on keeping’ on, girlfriend…sending big hugs!
I am so sorry to hear about all your pain– what an awful thing. I hope you are feeling better and that the treatment is effective. Sending healing thoughts your way.
I love your version of it!!
and glad you are feeling better!!!!
I love your inspiration quilt, and I too think that pink n brown would make a great quilt! Or brown n light blue, or…
