Birthday Party

We celebrated Chris and Rae’s October birthdays tonight and I was so busy cooking a meatloaf dinner for everyone that I only managed to snap one photo. Chris got his Great Smokey Mountain Park quilt with its nice cozy Minkee backing and sat under it all evening – except when he was eating meatloaf of course!

I didn’t get a photo of the birthday girl but she’s staying with us next weekend along with Mo and Gus while Becky takes Chris for a little Birthday Getaway so I’ll get some of her then.

This was the photo I snapped of the quilt when I finished it … I didn’t share the finished quilt on the blog because “someone” reads the blog and I didn’t want him to see it finished.

When I posted my my drawing I was asked if it was a Villa Rosa pattern and I said no, I’d searched for panel quilts on Pinterest to get ideas and but then drafted my own using various elements I’d seen.

  1. Happy birthday to you son and grandaughter, the quilt looks great and your son looks very pleased with his new quilt.
I like the pattern, there are so many great panels available and they’re always fun and make great quilts, I have a few panels that I need to complete but always short on ideas of how to enlarge them so I’ll have to remember to try scoping out pinterest and drafting my own pattern.

  2. Beautiful quilt. My sewing buddy and I have too many panels to fit in their current containers, so we have declared next year as ‘panel’ year.

  3. Happy Birthday to Chris and Rae!! His quilt is absolutely beautiful! As I’ve said before, you are so good with colors. And their dog is precious!!

  4. Thank you for posting this photo of your panel quilt. It inspired me, an Australian, to make one for my son, now a US citizen living in Georgia, and I’ll be delivering it to him next week. I asked Brett what his favourite parks were, so ended up with a Zion National Park panel in the middle of my quilt. Thank you for the inspiration.
