Weather

Do you think Keith was worried about going out of town and leaving me? Last night he pulled out all the flashlights and made sure the batteries were good.

We’re going to be caught in the path of Hurricane Helene and living in the forest has its challenges with downed trees and power outages during major storms but Finn and I will hunker down and be fine.

**HELENE TO BRING UNPRECEDENTED WIND AND FLOODING IMPACTS TO NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA THROUGH FRIDAY**

I might not make it to my wound care appointment on Friday afternoon!! We’ll see what happens.

  1. Be safe. Hope you can let us know as the days go on as to how you are doing. We will keep you all in our prayers.

  2. Time to hunker down! Power outage is usually the worst part 🙁 This no-nonsense hurricane blog should keep you updated: theeyewall.com. Hang in there Mary.

  3. Mary I have b een watching the development of Helene since its inception, and this appears to have a huge punch. We always feel kinship to any folks in the path of a major weather event as on our coast makes for some scary times. Stay safe. I’ll be thinking about you

  4. We appreciate your keeping us abreast of storm developments. Looks like you’re well prepared. Do have several gallons of drinking water on hand. We’re on a well. No electricity, no water. Hope you fare well.

  5. WE live rurally and also experience power outages. There are torches at hand in most rooms, batteries are checked if there is a poor weather warning. Thankfully, we have a log fire, always bottled water for emergencies and use buckets of pool water to flush toilets. We’ve had trees fall twice. During cyclone Gabrielle 8 came down in the way of a 60+ foot elm in our front garden. Well away rom the house. They now heat the house.
Stay safe and keep warm. You are good at keeping yourself occupied Mary. Gayle

  6. Good luck, Mary. I lived in the south many years, and well remember the hurricane drill. Hope you come through with minimal impact.

  7. Sounds like you will do fine. I don’t mind the rain – the wind is something else at least for our Missouri storms.
