I didn’t expect to do any piecing while I was up in Virginia this week but I had a little time this afternoon so I cut and assembled this Quicker Strippie – this variation of my Quick Strippie pattern is perfect for those large novelty prints that you don’t want to cut into 6.5 inch strips.

Things haven’t gone as planned this trip … I had a few days to visit with Mom before developing a severe sinus headache and congestion. Worried about making her sick I didn’t go over for a couple days as I waited to see if any more symptoms would develop. They didn’t thankfully and I did a virtual Dr’s visit to discuss whether it would be safe to attend the birthday celebrations this weekend and to get some meds to relieve the pain and pressure. I got the OK to attend which is great because it would have been so difficult to be here and not celebrate with her. Unfortunately Chris and Mo had to cancel their visit because he also had some respiratory thing going on. Can’t be too careful with Mom!!
Keith’s been busy with work but found some time to assemble a TV stand/electric fireplace we bought for the apartment. It’s MUCH better than the table we were using and with the temps here, a little extra heat is nice!
We tease Keith about not being too mechanically inclined but he did a pretty good job!
Glad your sinus congestion cleared up in time to see Mom. Pics? Keith reading directions shows he’s not too proud to need them. My H reads them when he gets into difficulties. The TV stand looks very nice.
That is a pretty neat looking electric fireplace/TV stand. He did a nice job! Cute quilt and extra quick I’m sure. Glad your sinus thing won’t keep you from joining the family. There are a lot of respiratory illnesses going around right now everywhere.
So glad you can be with your Mom. I can’t imagine how heartbreaking it would be to be there and not be at the celebration! Lovely little quilt, too, that you made while recuperating.
I agree, you can’t be too careful with your mom but I sure am glad you are able to celebrate with her. Your apartment is looking more like home all the time, and the fireplace adds an extra touch. Enjoy time with your family but take care of yourself too.
Glad your sinus thing may be resolved in time for the party – the cold and dry weather a bit north of you has me blowing and hacking too and its hard to decide what to do about going out into the world, much less around vulnerable elders.

Considering the year that came before this birthday, I imagine it’s especially important for your family to enjoy this celebration in person. Keith did a good job of assembling your fireplace. Happy birthday greetings to your mom.
