I went by the local guild meeting this afternoon to drop off 5 quilts for donation. I wasn’t able to stay for the meeting because I had an appointment but they have a social period first so I knew I could drop in to say hi and give them the quilts.
I’ve been donating quilts through this guild since 2020 when we bought the house – I always like to donate some of my quilts locally when possible and they have always been very appreciative and happy to accept them and get them to those in need.
They made me an honorary guild member a little over a year ago and I was surprised to receive a gift today … Dianne had hoped to present it to me during the meeting but since I wasn’t able to stay she gave it to me before I had to leave. Isn’t this a gorgeous block?! I can’t wait to hang it up in my sewing room.

The rest of my day wasn’t as fun … I had just put on the hospital gown and started receiving my therapy when people started shouting and knocking on doors saying we had to get out of the building … there was a fire downstairs.
Luckily, it was put out quickly and no one was hurt but I’ll have to go back tomorrow for my treatment.

Finn and I had some downstairs time when I got home and all the 16 patch blocks are assembled. With any luck I’ll get the border on after my appointment tomorrow and get this one off the design wall where it’s been taking up space since November!
Tonight … I’ll sit and crochet while the Bolts play – I’m desperately hoping for a win tonight ⚡️⚡️⚡️
What a lovely quilt block and thank you for all your work, you are an inspiration. Praying your therapy is successful and you have many more years to quilt just like your Mom!

Congratulations, what a beautiful and much deserved award! I’m sorry your treatment was interrupted, but at least you got some quilting time in!
Congrats on your well deserved community service award, Mary!
Such a special honor and gift that is well deserved!
And then, fire in the basement…….what a day!!
But of course… quilting or knitting or crocheting 🧶 is counted as delightful therapy!!
( personally know this well! 🤭)
A beautiful and well deserved honor from the guild! I hope your appointment goes smoothly tomorrow with no interruptions.
Luckily they had an appointment tomorrow. You seem to be working very quickly. I guess you are up to full speed. Stay healthy.
Such a beautiful paper pieced block. You deserve the thank you and recognition for all you do for so many organizations.
What a lovely quilt block and commemoration for you! Well deserved, I might add. Let’s hope any further appointments go much smoother than this!
I miss having a quilt guild nearby. I was one of the co-founders of the one where we lived, but then we moved about 2 hours away, and their meetings are in the evenings. I understand they have grown since we moved away.
Just love this unique award they created to thank you for your kind donations. ❤️
A well-deserved award and a most beautiful block! So many thoughts for your treatment and full remission.
I bet it was fun receiving this award when I’m sure you didn’t expect it. How nice to be honored by those who respect all that you do, especially at a time when you sometimes feel like you aren’t doing all you would like to do. Also, prayers continue as you go through your treatments. Carry on, dear Mary!
