Got downstairs for a little bit this afternoon and quilted the Baby Animal Happy Block top. It’s been loaded and waiting so it’s nice to have it quilted.
Pantograph is Happy Times

I’m not finished with the red shell stitch blanket … I keep deciding on adding a few more rows … but I started another blanket last night to work on during the Lightning game …. The Bolts won and the blanket is coming along.

I guess I’ve moved into blanket season but there will still be some hat knitting too … just at a slower pace. I’m usually much better about knitting the 2nd hat from the skeins large enough for two but the basket is full. Some I have a 2nd skein and I’ll pair up the leftovers with them – should get 3 hats from those 2 skeins … and the other’s I’ll try to get cast on and knit over time so I can start fresh in the fall.

For now there will continue to be more knitting and crochet than sewing I think. I’m having some cardiac side effects from the chemo and am set to go to the cardiologist in a week. Unfortunately, the oncologist has delayed my last chemo round until after I’m seen. I was hoping to get that over and done but I guess it’s ok to be cautious.
For now I’ll work on what I can – I can’t tell you how good it is to have my knitting and crochet for the times I’m not up to sewing and quilting. I NEED to stay busy and they help a lot!
You are an inspiration to me! Always doing for others. Keeping you in my thoughts!
Hoping the cardiologist has an easy “fix” so you can finish the chemo. It always seems like (at times) there’s one step forward and 2 steps back. Prayers for you.
Mary – sorry it’s been a year since I last commented, although I have been reading all your emails. My new year resolution is to start commenting again on a few other blogs as well. I’ve no good excuse, just got out of the habit as life got in the way I guess.
Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy New Year 2026 🙂
Yuck on the delay but if the chemo is fighting as hard as it has been with your body… I agree with your doctor. I am completely ignorant about chemo but if my health degraded as much as your’s has after the last 2 sessions and there were cardiac issues happened I would take all that as fair warning. I also know that I would be climbing the wall at the schedule change Thinking about you and hoping this is a minor bump in the road.
Wishing you a much better and cancer free New Year.
I pray for a good outcome and a healthy New Year through 2026.
You are a rock star!!!
Prayers are continuing for you, Mary. I too, had delays with chemo treatments due to other health concerns caused by the chemo. However, eventually the treatments are finished. Just stay strong!
Hope things go well at the cardiologist- and the “Happy Times” can be a mantra/goal/inspiration.
So sorry about your new health issues. My husband is having one weird issue after another so I know what you are going through. Please know that all of us are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers as you get your body healed. Your new quilt is beautiful and I’m stunned at how pretty that yarn and pattern turned out. It’s beautiful.
The baby quilt is lovely! I can understand how the delay of your final treatment is disappointing, I’d feel the same way. Hope you’ll soon check out ok with the cardiologist and be able to move forward. Happy knitting and hopefully soon you’ll be free to work toward regaining your strength and be healthy so you can move about and feel better! ❤️🩹
Dear Mary: Are you on the cancellation list at the Cardiologist? Do they know that you have to have one more Chemo and this is postponing it until you get the okay from your Cardiologist. It is amazing how much you get done. I too have handwork to do when I am feeling worn out or not well or tired…I sit in my lazy boy chair and cover up with some fleece blanket draped over my legs with some on the floor…my doggie Harley knows this for him. He keeps my feet warm and makes me feel good too. I love the pictures with you and your doggie sitting with you. Hope all goes very well soon. Happy New Year Carolyn
My latest doctor has been a cardio oncologist since I had heart issues too from my chemo and radiation. I’m thru with both of those…not together the heart issues fixed!
I’m so sorry you are having such severe side effects from the chemo. I sure hop you can get over it soon!
