It’s cold here in Tampa … although it should warm up some the next few days. My sinuses are giving me fits so I’m resting a lot today but yesterday I did get some knitting done in the afternoon….. and after that we watched an amazing comeback with the Bolts winning their game in a shootout.
It’s too bad I don’t have access to the yarn stash … the Ravelry group on Facebook is supporting Minnesotans and knitting tons of “Melt the Ice” hats. I especially love the small versions too … people are wearing them on their shirts or coats. I plan to try and knit some of both when I get home. I’m horrified by what is going on in our country and don’t support ANY of it.

I agree, Mary. I’ve been horrified since our government invaded Los Angeles, and it’s only getting worse. Immigration enforcement is NOT the reason for the abhorrent behavior of ICE and our leaders: it’s much more sinister. Love the hat!
Thank you for sharing these great links, Mary. I’ve ordered yarn, and had bought 2 patterns, but now I think I’ll make a couple of quick hats to begin. The tiny ones are especially appealing! My children and their families will be happy to wear their red hats proudly in support of immigrants and in opposition to ICE in their own cities, and across the country.
Mary, I admire all that you do in all your donations! I am a MN resident and absolutely sick with what is happening in my home state. There are many people supporting the immigrants by being out in the cold, the cold weather has been extreme there this winter, so your hats will be appreciated in many ways!

Those are such cute hats Mary. I’d love to be able to stop those things too. When you mentioned that it was cold in Tampa, I was looking out at the snow here. today there was a bit of freezing rain, but I think most of it has turned to rain now. I always think of Florida being a constantly warm place, but i suppose change in weather happens everywhere. Take care and keep on knitting.
I love the idea of the little hats to wear on a bag or coat. I’m not a knitter, but my mom is and I will suggest it to her and her knitting group.
Even a cool day in Florida sounds better than our Minnesota cold and ICE. It does my heart good to know that this red hat knit-a-long is sweeping the country. The Norwegian people set a fine example for us. Perhaps you can find a yarn shop near your hotel. Having a bit of a warm up so heading to Duluth for a day of peace.
What a strange year – snow and cold happening in Florida and we have unseasonably warm temps and have had very little snow here in SD. I love that hat, and what it represents.
When went thru my chemo and for months following I was always cold. After loosing my hair I found that a wig or a scarf really helped!
