Vicki and I were talking about reading yesterday. I’ve gotten some good audiobook recommendations from her blog the last several years and for the first time this trip, I listened to a book in the car … to and from Newport News. It was entertaining. It’s not something I can do with Keith in the car but I can do it on road trips when I’m by myself.
These days all my reading is either audiobooks while I’m knitting, crocheting, or stitching a binding down or read on my Kindle. It’s funny but Keith will tell people how I used to need an extra bag for books if we were going to be out of town … now I just carry this nice little “book” that has my entire library and even allows me to increase the size of the font when my eyes get tired!

Mom loves her kindle too and with the challenges she has with her vision, it’s pretty much the reason she’s still able to read which is good because she loves reading as much as I do!
I love the kindle for ease in going anywhere.
It is also great for those with arthritis in their hand or fingers.
I used audio when I was working with long commute but haven’t gotten a single one since I retired. Love the kindle.
I LOVE my kindle and I consider it to be one of the best purchases I have ever made. It certainly saved me during the lockdown, it’s great for travel, and now that I am in a book club during retirement, I read more now than ever. And yes, in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep and have no glasses on- just change the font size and I’m good to go! Highly recommend.
The Kindle is a wonderful invention. If I wake up at night and can’t get back to sleep, I read in bed, and before I know it, I’m asleep. Of course it can’t be a page turner book!
You just described me as well as you! I used to carry a whole bag of books. Now I mostly read on my Kindle, and love being about to make the print larger whenever I feel the need. I read at least 1 book every week, but usually 2. This year I’m keeping a list of what I’ve read just for fun.
I’ve been subscribing to Audible for years. But I’ve also been considering getting a Kindle. I don’t know which one to buy. Do you have any suggestions.
I used to use a kindle but sadly it is randomly impossible for health reasons.
I use Shokz headphones to listen to books in the car (and while riding my bike). Other people can’t hear the book but I still can hear them or any traffic noise.
