I lost a good friend last week and she will be missed dearly.
Bev was a member of my HeartStrings group and contributed to so much that we did over the years. I first met her in person in 2009 at the first Maine sew-in that she held. If you’ve followed me for a while you know those trips to Maine for the sew-ins are very special to me. I’m so grateful for her hosting them for many years and SO many quilts were collected, pieced, tied, quilted, and donated in Maine as a result with Bev doing LOTS of the work herself.

Many of the quilts were donated to Veterans and thanks to Brenda, we’re doing a project to honor Bev’s memory.
I think I’m going to start with a Sharon Inspired HeartStrings quilt. I chose the fabrics today and pulled the muslin out. I have to make some room first but the nice thing about this version is it doesn’t need to go on the design wall which is still tied up!

This was a version I finished in 2018

What a wonderful way to honor her. It makes you feel good too. Glad you get to go to Maine for those special sew ins. Take care of yourself and I’ll say a prayer too.
So sorry about the loss of your friend. Your tribute quilt will be such an honor to her.
I’m sorry for your loss. Good friends are very special and I’m sure will be missed by your quilt group, too.
That’s a wonderful way to honor your friend!
I love the pictures you posted. The one of you and Bev is great! She will certainly be missed by many, especially those of us who attended the Maine sew-in. I will also be participating in the quilt drive in her memory.
Sorry for the loss of Bev. Couldn’t just say your friend because you have called her by name for years. There is so much shared in this post that is honoring a wonderful woman. I am taking your word because I trust you. The gifts to the world you and other of her friends are creating in her honor will bring joy and echo the kindness she shared. Thanks to Bev and all her friends for continuing the tradition of love.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. I think your quilt is a great way to honor her!
