Is this cheating?? I kind of feel like it is but it was easy to sew this one up when we got back from our outing.
Our HeartStrings’ challenge this month is Layer Cakes … or 10 inch squares cut from stash. I’ve been contemplating what I might piece. I’ve got a lot on my to do list for our up coming Maine sew-in so I decided to go easy and piece a little quilt top … The hourglass blocks finish at 8.5 inches … and I use a 10 inch square on my quarter square triangle die.
First I had to find one of the fabrics that I pulled the other day that I could cut five 8.5 inch squares from. There was only the puppy fabric so I pulled a couple coordinating fabrics from stash.

I cut two 10 inch squares from the gray and the brown and this is what I ended up with. I had one more Paw patrol critter so he will be donated with this one!

June’s Challenge met!
Cheating? Not at all. I find myself behind for this month. I only bought layer cakes a couple of times years ago and they were a hot mess. I do make patterns that call for them but cut from stash. Any progress is good in my book.
Not cheating! You’ll make some little heart very happy.
I don’t think you are cheating. You are using your limited time resource wisely.
Not cheating at all. I have my Go Cutter, half square , quarter square dies , and tote of fabric with me for vacation sewing. I think it is going to be a rainy summer.
You really can’t cheat when piecing quilts. There are different techniques…why not use the one that best gets the job done. And you did an excellent job!
That is another adorable little quilt. Definitely not cheating either. I’m working on binding another one at my house, with a leftover NASA fabric.
