Progress

I did not intend to go downstairs today … I’ve been tired and today I got my first massage in a year and a half and I was feeling very “relaxed”. However after resting for about an hour or so … I got up and headed downstairs.

I used to be SOOO focused on my goals but these days I’m kind of all over the place … just doing what I want to do.

Today, I did start out with getting a binding on Valerie’s quilt … it’s ready to hand stitch down and that might happen tonight after Keith goes to bed.

So next up should have been working on assembling the RWB HeartStrings’s top but I decided to pull another top of Valerie’s and get it ready for quilting. I thought that meant just pressing and pulling strings off but I realized that I had a border that would make it a bit larger.

Most of these tops are about 36 inches square. I’ve enlarged some of them to meet the size that is better for my donations here … but Kathy has told me that the 36 inches square size works for her donations … so I’ve decided to finish some as is … and add some borders to those that I can to make them a little larger.

So the one I’m going to finish tonight will go in a box that will go to Kathy when it’s full … and the one I worked on today … will get quilted and donated here in GA.

After that, I should have started the border on the linen stitch blanket but I’d been distracted by my yarn leftovers … years ago I’d made an afghan from crocheted rectangles … inspired by Warm Up America. I didn’t send the rectangles in … I assembled them myself and donated the blanket.

I had that photo sitting in a bin with leftover yarn….

…. And decided that I might make some and send them in. I’d gotten some emails from Warm Up America asking for these 7 x 9 inch “blocks” and knew they’d be quick to make up … both the knit and crochet version. So … I grabbed some leftover yarn and started crocheting.

I’m going to search for some more patterns both knit and crochet and I read somewhere that the Michael’s stores actually have a collection bin for these. We’ll see if that is true locally but I have sent other blankets, hats, and scarves to Warm up America so I can send them directly too.

  1. I love your sample crochet. Can you share the pattern? I’d love to crochet again but something very simple please, if you have a pattern.
