Others may be celebrating today but not me. I do NOT support the current administration or president or it’s cruelty, bigotry, and self aggrandizing agenda.
Today, I pray for the future of our country and hope that when we all go to vote in November we can put some brakes on that agenda and start to recover our kindness toward others.

TOTALLY AGREE. There is soo much hate in the world today😔 we need everyone to come together for change.
Agree Mary
It’s real easy to lose hope in this current situation. Just when I think it can’t get any worse it does.
Agreed! I hope I live long enough to see all of this mess to be turned around.
Quilting blogs are one of the places I feel safe of getting away from the hateful politics either way. Therefore I will no longer be following you.
I understand where you are coming from, Mary. I do not support the current administration either. It embarrasses me tremendously. But July 4th is about so much more than that. It is a celebration of 250 years of the wonderfulness of a country that people are willing to risk life and limb to come to from countries where there are often no opportunities for freedom or justice or advancement. My husband and I are both military veterans and we proudly served our country because, despite its many faults, it is still a beautiful and wonderful place to live and raise a family.
Supporting your way of thinking. From 🇨🇦❤️. The world is waiting for the big beautiful day.
Canadian here offering condolences and a hug. Hang in there and VOTE
I agree with you. And I will join you in prayer that soon we will begin the work of restoring the values that were the foundation of this country. Three of my four sons served in the military and my father served in WWII, his brothers in Korea and multiple nephews in Beirut and other places. I want their service to mean something. When someone serves in the military, their entire family serves and I want that to mean something, too.
Right on, my friend!
been a long time since i’ve done anything but lurk here and watch your needlework and wish you good health, but i gotta chime in here. i was raised that america was all about freedom from opression and accepting different people as valuable. we all need to be thinking hard about who we vote for and why – and hopefully this shameful circumstance won’t ever be repeated.
Agree, Mary and Sue!!! And others. Couldn’t say it better!
so sorry you feel that way. I guess the United States of America, One nation under God, is not more important than one person I felt the same way about Biden, but I still loved my country) God bless you and the Ubited States of America.
Hugs Mary. The US will be great again someday. This is hopefully just a blip. Sanity will return
Mary, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Although I did want to make something to represent the 250th Anniversary of our country. So, I looked through my quilt kits from Temecula Quilt Company and found the perfect kit. It’s a small quilt in red, white and blue, with one 💩 colored 9 patch which to me represents the current administration. It seemed like the perfect piece to represent how I feel: I love my country but not how it is currently being led. Hopefully the November elections will change things! I’m praying with you!
Apparently I have a right to join The Daughters of the American Revolution so that means my family has been involved in this USA for 250+ years. I am so sad and disappointed in where we are now. Other countries have/are abandoning us with good reason. We have a crappy Supreme Court and the conservative religious bigots are trying to change our country. It’s been difficult to be proud of the USA for its birthday this year. I’m fearful of where we are headed. There doesn’t seem to be a good future right now. To those of you who hide your head in the sand, trust me, your day will come.
Mary,
Thank you for stating that, many of us feel exactly the same way! I’m hoping it’s the majority of us that feel the same way! And we hope we will be able to get past the last several years, and get back into common sense, dignity,
and honor!
There are a lot of people who feel the same way. The way things are just makes me sad.
I believe the country as a whole is good. We have enough good people to recover anything and we have 250 years of agreement and disagreement to show us how.
AMEN!!!!! I keep thinking about how fabulous Long Beach CA was in 1976. I cannot feel that joy and pride today.
I’m with you. I hope we will once again have respect our leaders and government. I don’t have to agree with those in government if I can have confidence they are honest and worthy of respect.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have a grandson in the military now and I fear for his safety. This too shall pass.
While I do not care for the current administration I fully celebrate the 250th year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The United States of America is a great county where we are allowed to support what we want. It isn’t supposed to include outright hatred for any person. You can disagree with those in our government but you should still celebrate the United States of America Don’t let hatred ruin your joy.
