A new quilt

I don’t have photos for you yet but I started a new quilt today. The pattern is Beaded Lanterns and it’s a free Jelly roll quilt.

Mom and I made one a couple years ago for my sister.

And it just so happens that Stephanie pulled Jelly rolls out of the hat for our October Precut challenge … I’m just starting a little early.

  1. Will you be using a dark background again? I think that really makes this quilt. I just so happen to have both a jelly roll (or several) and some beautiful dark yardage. I think I see one of these in my future! Thanks for the inspiration, Mary.

  2. Thank you for leading us to this pattern. I love your version and will look forward to making one of my own.

  3. I made a quilt similar to this with various Kaffe Fassett fabrics and I love it, still not quilted yet. I really like this pattern of Christa’s and might make this too. Love your black background, this quilt of yours is gorgeous.

  4. Mary, thank you so much for posting that pattern. Hedy has the right idea…Kaffe Fassett. I have millions of Kaffe Fassett fabrics that I’ve been hoarding and I’ve been selecting various patterns to best showcase his beautiful prints. I’ve been looking for a Moroccan-style lantern pattern that isn’t overly complex. I get bored with complexity. This is P E R F E C T!!!! Sometimes patience is worth the wait.

  5. I really like that pattern, I have a jelly roll of Kaffe Fassett waiting for a project this just might be it once the three Christmas quilts are completed.

  6. Such a great pattern! I made one early last year with a variety of African prints and a tan Grunge dot. I originally thought it would go for donation but I love it so much it’s on my recliner 🙂

Happy stitching with your Mom. May you have a few wonderful weeks of time together!
