Packing

I’ve finished packing up my sewing, knitting, and crochet stuff today.

There’s enough yarn in the bin for 4 crochet blankets and 5 scarves … and I’ve got 2 scarves and a blanket already in progress so that will keep me busy for a while.

I’m lucky that I’ve had sewing rooms at two homes for many years and have plenty of tools and stuff to split without having to go out and buy anything for the sewing room … except an iron. The old one I had in Tampa died.

I don’t expect to have time to assemble the Strips and Strings Rail Fence blocks that have been sitting up on the design wall for 3 weeks so I’ll take them to VA to finish. I snapped a photo of the blocks on the design wall …

And then took them down row by row … hopefully I can get them assembled in the correct order!

I’m getting my steps in too! Carrying things from downstairs to the garage so they can be loaded up on Friday. The fabric bin was too heavy for me to carry by myself so I’ll wait until Keith comes home to help but everything else is up there.

Now I just need to go through the kitchen, linens, my clothes, and toiletries and pack that stuff up. I only have 2 king size quilts and debated taking one of them with me but decided to order a bed in a bag from Walmart instead.

And instead of buying extra pillowcases (I like to have two sets of sheets and pillowcases) … I cut down to size 4 of the king size ones I’ve had sitting down in the sewing room for 3 years!! We only use standard size pillows and it’s easy enough to cut and sew a French seam at the bottom to resize these.

I’ll probably have to resize the ones from the bed in a bag too.

  1. I remember periods where I could work like you are this week but remembering is the limit. I am happy you are healthy and driven enough to do all of this!

  2. I still say you are the human Energizer Bunny. I enjoy hearing about all the things
you do and thanks for all the ideas and know how to get some of it completed.

    Have a safe trip.

  3. You’ve been so busy! And you’re well organized. I have 2 of most everything too. One set of smaller cutting mat, rotary cutter, rulers, extension cord, surge protector, etc just stays in my rolling cart for retreats. It all came in handy when I stayed at Laura’s house for 10 days in January. I just had to drop in my iron.

  4. You are getting it all done! I am now at a point with the integrating that I can sew…and do little bits of unpacking in between. The photo archive and quilting supplies will take some time to work through but I will get there. Good luck with your move.
