Weird

People are so weird! I had a couple emails about a photo of Mom showing up on Facebook. I don’t get why people “steal” photos and then post them as their own but do realize that if I post something here … there’s no telling where it will show up.

I was on Facebook this evening and came across the same photo although this time they cropped Mom out. And no, it’s not a Villa Rosa design, it’s one of the 3 yard quilts from Fabric Cafe.

I do think it’s kind of funny though that people see a photo on Facebook and recognize my Mom!!

    • I love the Pic of your mom which I saw in several posts. How can I get the quilt pattern? It’s beautiful.

  1. WOW, that’s a shocker (to me). I’ve seen (multiple times) where someone or other has taken other’s pictures and proclaimed them as their own (including some of mine) and it makes me so angry. I guess people are really weird, but more importantly, have NO MORAL code, which is very sad and disheartening.

  2. It is a great picture. I agree folks should not be taking other folk’s work.
I like that pattern. It reminds me of Quilt for Kids pattern in a larger rectangle.

  3. Hi Mary! I agree that people are weird and strange. I guess it’s easier to claim someone else’s work rather than do it yourself.
That being said, which 3 yard book is this pattern from? I haven’t seen it before, and it would make a great donation quilt!

  4. I actually saw that photo on Facebook too, in the Villa Rosa pattern group. And my thought was “no, it isn’t a VR pattern”. It really IS crazy how photos get shared and shared and shared. I saw one of my really old blog photos show up on Pinterest recently.

  5. I know I’d recognize her, even out of context. I do like this photo with her smiling happily at her achievement. I don’t spend much time on FB other than to follow my son and a few friends from church.

  6. I am a photographer and follow many photographers who have had images stolen. Many people come back with it is just nature or a building or other things. The key being if it were that simple they wouldn’t have to take someone else’s photo and claim it.

This is a case of many people selling blocks and quilt patterns that I have seen others selling. Who was the original creator. I don’t know but it happens often. I have given up trying to fix things so more than one person claims a block. Who cares. I can look myself in a mirror – can they?
