I received my critters today from Amazon and I thought I’d share my thoughts. The cutest critter might just be the one behind the gate on the right!!

Overall this first set is cute although I’m not a huge fan of the brown noses. Also, they show them sitting but the stuffing is firm and I can’t get them to sit up at least at this point. This is not a big issue and they’ll work well with the little quilts. You can find them on Amazon at this link.

This next set was a little smaller than I expected and overall cute but I didn’t expect them to have the pellets in the “butt” area. They do have hard eyes versus the sew on ones so overall they’re not suited for kids younger than 3 but neither are the ones above. You can find this set at this link – while they are cute – I won’t be buying them again but I will be donating the ones I received with the little quilts.

This set was the one I was worried about being too big … they’re not but again, they have the pellets in the “butt” area and I’m not a fan of that. You can find them at this link. Again, I like the variety in this set but because of the pellets I won’t be buying them again. You can find them at this link.

Overall, I have to say I like the critters I’ve been getting at Dollar General the best but I do have to wait for the holidays to get them. I don’t know if there will be any more this year but I scored big time around Valentine’s Day and Easter.
Maybe you can perform “surgery” and remove the beads. Looking at the jungle ones on Amazon, 1. no mention of the beads 2. They show an infant with one of the stuffed animals! There was however a comment that mentioned the beads. I’d probably would have returned as they were falsely advertised.
These are cute that I understand about the pellets. I have to be very careful about buying any stuffed animals for my dogs because they would swallow those pellets for sure.
“The cutest critter might just be the one behind the gate on the right!!” I believe your are correct – BUT – you might wrap him in a darling quilt BUT I sincerely doubt you would ever dream of giving him away. LOL
Thanks for the review of the critter collections. I’ve found some good ones at the dollar store, Walmart, and even our local grocery store (at Easter).
Have you tried Oriental Trading Company online? They have lots of stuffed animals that you can buy in bulk. Not sure if they are suitable for your purpose, but it’s worth taking a look!
Put a warning on the ones with hard eyes. The pellet butts
I love this idea. I will have to look again for the stuffed animals. I went online to Dollar General after easter and it showed the clearance items at each of the nearby stores. I saw stuffed animals and thought about you. I think if I can find a good source. Without pellets in butt/eyes. My october retreat friends would love making these as an activity we could each make one in an afternoon. There are up to 30 of us in Galveston, TX. What type of places could I look for to gift them to?
