Little Quilts

It started off as a day to add borders to one of Valerie’s string quilts … my plan for the 2nd border didn’t work … and then I thought about using some 4 patches … but I didn’t like that option with the top … so just one border added today. Maybe I’ll figure out something to make it rectangular and a little longer.

I wasn’t going to waste the border strips I’d cut and then pieced into 4 patches so a little quilt was pieced.

I thought I might have had a purple monkey to go with it but didn’t. I think the pink one works better anyway.

And before closing up shop for the day … I pulled the leftover trimmings from the 16 patch blocks and started arranging them for a little quilt.

I’m going to need to get some of these quilted … there are 4 waiting now in this little bin.

  1. Your will to help with love inspires me. You could make some larger HST to create some “pointy bits” on the new border combined with another piece of fabric (so you don’t have to make too many HSTs and deal with an edge that has so many joins when you are quilting it.) I’ve done this before and its a “nice look”.

  2. If you even need more little quilts give a shout out. I’ve got tons of scraps that need to be made into something and I can do some easy quilting on them.

  3. The container reminded me of a NICU. Your gifts are priceless.
You keep me energized to keep going with my community service committee.
    Thanks!

  4. Cute and such good ways to use up those leftovers. I have a small stack of these too, and need to dig around my stash for some backing for them. The pink monkey is adorable!
