A little work

Mom and I had a nice visit yesterday… no sewing done but she did show me the little quilts she was working on and then we just sat and talked.

This afternoon I cut a couple more little quilts and kitted them up for her. I told her no pressure yesterday when I delivered the others. They’re there if she wants to work on them but not to push herself.

And I wonder where I get it from 😉

This is going to be the one I call Jungle Rails after the one I made a while back. The 3rd row isn’t laid out … just the first two to get an idea of how it will look.

I wrote up some brief instructions for her and you can find them at this link

And this one is going to be one of the ones I call Large Square framed by 2 borders.

She came up with this idea back when she started making the Little Quilts and they always turn out so cute! They are 24 inches square when finished.

  • Cut the novelty fabric 16.5 inches square
  • Cut the first border 2 inches wide
  • Cut the second border 3 inches wide

We had another nice visit this afternoon and then went to dinner with Keith, my brother Kevin and his wife. It was very nice!! So glad to have had this time with her even though it was short!!

  1. I love reading about your visits with your family. My mother was in Texas for a while and my visits there from West Virginia were very special times as I can tell they are for you.
And we had twin boys whose names were Keith and Kevin.
You look fabulous after all you’ve been through. Keep on keeping on!!!

  2. Both of this little quilts look so cute. Today I went in the Goodwill bins and found a small pieces quilt of various novelty prints and found extra fabric that was in it. Looks like they just fitted anything in the quilt. Sure isn’t as pretty as yours but it will make do. Glad you are having a good visit.

  3. So glad you got to spend that time with your Mom. Both of you look great! You are both an inspiration to me. I know where you got you work ethic from. Have a safe trip and a wonderful time in Maine. Eat a few lobster rolls for me, they are my favorite.
