Closing up shop

The second little doll quilt is assembled and I’m closing up shop here in Tampa. Monday will be for packing and I’ve got one appointment too.

I was happy to hear I’m not the only one who makes doll quilts from those leftover bits and as I mentioned with the last one, I’ll plan on using these for some Big Stitch hand quilting practice although I’m not really practicing for anything … I just like doing it and the small quilts seem to take me just the right amount of time given everything else I want/need to be doing.

  1. This came out lovely!! I just sent off my two granddaughters’ dolly quilts this weekend. They were really fun to make and choose their special color favorties for…nice work hugs, Julierose

  2. I have the scraps from my granddaughters’ baby quilts in a basket. As soon as I get my machine back from the spa I’ll be making a baby quilt for the 2 year old from her scraps, then will do the same for the four month old when she’s older and plays with dolls. Brooklyn, the older one, is really into her babies right now, so it will be perfect for Christmas, maybe with a little baby bed!

  3. I think your big stitch handwork project sounds like fun! Might have to give it a try myself. I certainly have plenty of scraps!!!

  4. I love your doll quilt. I love to make minis. At Christmastime, I have been buying dolls, adding a little quilt tgat matches the outfit and donating. I’m hoping some little girls are enjoying them. Do little girls even play with dolls anymore?

  5. Safe travels back to Georgia! I’m sure that boot is getting old so you will be so glad to get out of it. I think I’m going to try to do a couple of doll blankets with some scraps this winter.

  6. Really cute!! Thanks for inspiring me to make a couple of doll quilts for a Christmas baby doll on its way.
