This yarn looked much better in the “cupcake” than it does knitted out but hat #7 is finished. The pattern called for worsted weight yarn and size 9 needles but I used DK weight and size 6 needles making the largest size in the pattern knowing I’d still get a kid size hat.
- Pattern is Sweet Spring from the book Baby Beanies by Amanda Keeys
- Needle size – 6
- Yarn – Caron Cupcakes, colorway is Strawberry Kiwi Pop
I don’t know if the splotches of green dye in the other colors is intentional or whether it’s just a bad dye job but I don’t care for it. There’s enough yarn left in this cupcake for another hat and I have one more cupcake (that I know of) but I don’t think I’ll be buying any more of this yarn.
I think the hat is really pretty.
I think this hat is great, Mary…some kid will absolutely love it!
somebody will love it….
The hat is cute, perhaps not an adult taste but it keep will warm some child’s head.
Not my style either but my granddaughters would love it. The colors are pretty but the flecks are distracting to my old lady senses. But it isn’t foran old lady it is for someone young enough to appreciate the detail.
I love it – the flecks look like sprinkles on a cupcake. I love pink and green together.
I like the hat. The think the green flecks are intentional and make it look interesting. Some child will love it, I’m sure!
So pretty, Mary!!
I like it too, Mary. And some child will love it and keep them warm and look stylish at the same time. Thank you for doing this to help so many others who need them.
I think it’s pretty. The green is a shade my mother always called “poison green”, but kiwi is a better name. LOL
I love the specks of color. It ties the whole thing together. If I had a kid-sized head, I would love that had LOL
Really cute hat and I actually like the specks of green and pink. It will be well loved for sure!!
Very cute hat, I like the sprinkles of color in it. I had to google cupcake yarn this is the first time I’ve heard of it, there are some pretty colors in it.
I’m knitting a child’s hat with a “Cupcake” and yes, those flecks of colour are part of the yarn. The ball that I have is 100% acrylic- – it’s not very soft, so hopefully it will be loved by a child!
You have really been knocking out these hats and they are all beautiful!
I forgot I bought this book a few months ago / last year – maybe it was you that recommended it? I need to read through it again 🙂
