Maine goodies

I was pretty restrained … after all I was flying home and didn’t have much room in the suitcase. We had a couple trips to Marden’s but I didn’t get much … except some striped fabrics that were precuts on sale – most of them are 2 yards and I got them for about $5 … that’s $2.50 a yard.

I’m going to be doing one or two Sharon inspired HeartStrings quilts in the coming year and I’ll choose from them for the centers.

I did take a few items from Bev’s Stash too. Some novelties, fat quarters and a jelly roll. Those will all be used for donation quilts – she will keep giving even though she’s no longer with us.

Not a lot going on the last couple days … just a little crochet. I’ve got some kind of respiratory issue and haven’t felt well. Hoping it resolves soon. I did have to cancel 2 of my appointments which will eventually have to be rescheduled but I’m content to just be home right now.

  1. You deserve to take some tome to rest. Hope you feel better soon.
Seeing the Easy Button reminds me of my friends Easy Button quilt. She makes larger throws by taking a yard and half of a fabric (one you don’t want to cut) and puts two borders on it. She usually does a 2.5 inch and a 5 inch. And it is done!

  2. Take time to catch up. You need a little rest and listen to your body. Let me tell you what not listening got me. A 4 week partial recovery and 4 months of lowered resistance. Not a good plan since all the others with the crud went to bed right after our trip and recovered completely after 2weeks. The plan was clear, I just thought I knew better.

  3. Sorry to hear you are ill. Whatever that respiratory bug is, it is highly contagious! I have not been sick in 7 and a half years but I caught this one even though I am very aware and careful when I am in stores and in public. So I was not happy to get sick. My husband got it from me even though he stayed away from me. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow and I am still coughing some and constantly clearing my throat. And yes, I get a yearly flu shot.

    Take care and rest.

  4. Dear Mary… When my Husband and I went to Canada in June we stopped at Mardens… I got some fabric with hexagons on it. It was perfect for the pincushions my Twin and her Daughter taught. The fellow who cut the fabric said he had over 1000 fabrics. I found a fabric with Eagles on it.I told him that it was for my Brother. Eagles is our Family name. I would not dare go that way and not stop at Mardens.
I hope you are feeling better. Sincerely Carolyn
